Lisa Olivia Munn grew up in Oklahoma City. Kimberly Schmid was born in Vietnam and is of Chinese heritage, yet her father Winston Barrett Munn comes from an American family. Olivia's parents separated at age two. She grew up with her mother, who served as a pilot in the United States Air Force, and her stepfather. Even though the family moved out of Oklahoma and stayed in various places, she was raised in Tokyo, Japan. When she was in Japan, she was an actress at local theater performances and then turned into an Japanese models for fashion. Olivia moved back in Los Angeles after the family's return back to the United States. She pursued the dream of becoming an actress. After a few small performances and a few small roles, her career took off on an extremely promising direction when she was offered the character as Mily Acuna in the Hawaii-focused television show Beyond the Break (2006) and also the role of Rob Schneider's receptionist in Big Stan (2007). She hosts the podcasts "Formula D", "The Daily Nut" along with "The Daily Nut". She enjoys surfing, which she has been practicing since the television series Beyond the Break (2006).
